Show N' Read Saturday #24: CARRIE

A weekly meme hosted by Diantha Jones where we share and rate TV shows and movies we've seen, and the books that we have read or have now been inspired to read.

This week I watched:

CARRIE (2013)

A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloƫ Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, Carrie is directed by Kimberly Peirce with a screenplay by Lawrence D. Cohen and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. (

This was a pretty damn good remake if you ask me. Chloe Grace and Julianne Moore were incredibly convincing in their roles and a lot of elements from the original movie were there as well. I will have to say Sissy Spacek was definitely the creepier Carrie, but Moretz was not too shabby at all. Most certainly worth the trip to the movies and worth another watch anytime I'm in the mood for a "Stephen King" flick.

My rating: 4/5 STARS

Book I Want to Read:

Carrie by Stephen King (1974)
The story of misfit high-school girl, Carrie White, who gradually discovers that she has telekinetic powers. Repressed by a domineering, ultra-religious mother and tormented by her peers at school, her efforts to fit in lead to a dramatic confrontation during the senior prom. (Goodreads)
Pretty much a no brainer. If you watch the movie, you have to read the book.
